The Live Parts™ user interface components are depicted below.
- Menu bar. Live Parts functions are now accessible via the Menu bar across the top of the application window, and via a set of popup (#2-5,7-8 in the image above and described below) windows that users may open and close via View on the Menu bar.
Import/export and save/open controls are now located under File on the Menu bar (see image below). The Export button now consolidates the options to output in STL or LPE formats. The LPE format (Live Parts Export) should be used for more precise results as the smoothed geometry data is sent to SOLIDWORKS as a combination of B-Rep and mesh geometry. Once imported into SOLIDWORKS as a solid part, users may create a precise STL that captures the detail of the B-Rep geometry in the attractor gradients.
Under View on the Menu bar, there are several checkboxes which can be used to turn on/off the command and information windows (see image below). By default, all windows except for the Cells Born/Killed graph window are displayed. When these windows are displayed, you may expand and collapse them by clicking on the arrow in the top left of each window.
Sample models are now accessible under Examples in the Menu bar (see image below). The LPI models are more recent samples and show examples of best practices using the latest Live Parts functionality. Other models ("Scenes") are in an older JSON format but still demonstrate many interesting capabilities, especially using dynamic forces created using expressions.
Under Window in the Menu bar, users can adjust the style applied to Live Parts between light and dark (see image below).
Basic controls window. Use the basic controls window to start, pause, or reset the Live Parts growth process as well as smooth the Live Parts design.
Features window. Use the features window to adjust the visibility of Live Parts model features (e.g. gradients, forces, symmetries, etc.). You can also customize the color of the Live Parts design via this window.
- Advanced controls window. Use the advanced controls window to adjust forces and gravity in real-time.
Cell properties window. Use the cell properties window to adjust the settings for the Live Parts growth process (e.g. cell size, strain tolerance, growth speed, etc.).
Live Parts object. Displays the current state of the Live Parts design.
Stats window. Displays several statistics regarding the Live Parts growth process.
Cells born/killed window. Use the cells born/killed window to view a graphic depicting the rate of cell growth and decay. Users can leverage this window to understand where the Live parts design in the growth process.
