Live Parts is a software application from Desktop Metal that takes a nature-inspired approach to generative design, making it easy to create and optimize part designs in minutes. Live Parts features:

Live Parts integrates seamlessly with existing CAD tools and workflows to simplify the process of defining input parameters. This makes it easy to generate new parts from scratch that fit among other parts in the assembly, or generate parts that grow within the confines of existing parts that act as containers.
- Real-time interaction & analysis
During the generation process, users can interact with the simulation environment and the design itself to see the impact of modifications in real time. This enables more efficient design iteration and exploration. Live Parts also employs built in FEA to guide the growth process in order to achieve objectives such as safety factor relative to yield stress.

Powered by a GPU-accelerated engine, Live Parts uses nature-inspired cell growth algorithms to generate stronger, lighter part designs that leverage the geometric flexibility exclusive to 3D printing-all in a matter of minutes.
Desktop Metal has partnered with SOLIDWORKS® to bring Live Parts into the existing CAD environment where designers and engineers already work. SOLIDWORKS users receive access to leverage this new approach to generative design to shape strong, lightweight parts that are ideally suited for 3D printing.
We provide access to Live Parts via our cloud-hosting partner, Paperspace. Through Paperspace, SOLIDWORKS users gain unrestrained access to Live Parts, hosted on GPU-accelerated virtual machines and streamed over the cloud to their local machines, ensuring a consistent, high-quality experience regardless of local machine hardware.
