With the Live Parts Add-in for Solidworks, you can create walls to which seed cells can be attached. In Live Parts, walls are volumes with "sticky" surfaces that cells propagate along without restriction. You can use walls when you are not sure of what a fill zone geometry should look like.
You can use walls when you are not sure of the size or shape of a fill zone for your model. In this case, you can create a small fill zone and place it on a wall, which would act as a larger, sticky surface. Then, during the Live Parts growth process, walls provide a fixed surface that allow cells to grow beyond the bounds of the fill zone, indicating the system's "desired shape" for the zone. You can then use this information to more specifically define the size and shape of your fill zone, or you could alternatively constrain the shape of the design using a contain zone.
You can create walls using the method outlined below.
- Click Wall in the Live Parts Add-in toolbar.
- Click the Volume box and select the relevant body in your assembly for your wall.
- Click the Checkmark as the top of the zone menu to accept the changes.
