Live Parts v1.2 (5/1/18)
Functionality to load gradients with complex geometry. Gradient geometry is stored as compressed STL data in the model file. Cells fill complex attractor gradients in similar manner to simple attractor gradients. Snapping and smoothing of cells to complex gradient geometry is still under development, and in some cases, currently produces rough surfaces.
- Beta implementation of a "chemical diffusion" model of part thickness whereby cells are able to detect the thickness of the part in their vicinity. In the future, Live Parts may include additional functionality leveraging this "chemical diffusion" model that allows cells to grow in regions that are too thin as well as hollow out or limit growth in regions that are too thick. Users can toggle from strain-based colors to "thickness colors" with the ‘J’ key.
Live Parts for SOLIDWORKS v1.2 (5/1/18)
Functionality to select complex solid bodies for use as gradients. Complex solid bodies are more sophisticated than the primitive shapes previously supported, which included cylinders with optional centered through holes, rectangular prisms, and spheres with optional shelled out centers. In addition, forces may be associated with complex, shaped gradient geometry. Users should select the “outside” option when applying forces to complex gradients, and Live Parts will apply the forces to all surfaces that can feel them depending upon their direction (i.e. if a force is directed downward, then the force will be applied to all cells within the complex shape that are exposed to the downward force).
Improved warning and error messages in Export Dialogs: when a model contains errors or warnings, users are now provided more detailed information on the causes of the problems in the Export Dialog box.
